Barrhead hires former Scotrail boss
Barrhead Travel has appointed the head of marketing at Scotrail as its new marketing director.
Nesta Gilliland has joined the Glasgow-based travel company as it prepares for further growth following its acquisition by Travel Leaders Group.
Prior to joining Barrhead Travel, Nesta was head of marketing and sales at Abellio ScotRail for more than two years where she co-ordinated a multi-million pound marketing budget. She also spent five years at David Urquhart Travel, where she led business growth in positions of sales and marketing director and group managing director, respectively.
Barrhead has doubled the size of its in-house marketing team over the past 18 months.
Sharon Munro, chief executive of Barrhead Travel, said: “Nesta's insight into marketing strategy, data management and exceptional customer service will be absolutely necessary to deliver our ambitions.”
Grocery business appoints new MD
CONVENIENCE store chain Scotfresh has appointed industry veteran Mark Steven as its new managing director to lead the Glasgow-based retailer into its next phase of growth.
Mr Steven brings a wealth of retail and wholesale experience to the role having held senior positions with Scottish multi-site operators Botterills (Spar) and KeyStore (Park’s). He has also recently worked for convenience and fuel technology firms Oracle and Point Four.
Currently operating eight stores across Glasgow and the central belt, Scotfresh is an established player in the Scottish convenience marketplace and has plans for future growth.
Company chairman Shaun Marwaha said: “He has nearly 25 years’ experience in convenience retailing and an outstanding track record focused around customer service, innovation and technology which makes him ideally placed to drive our business forward.”
IT firm hires cyber security expert
AS cyber security becomes increasingly important for businesses, Edinburgh-based specialist information technology security company Assure APM has appointed Neil Anderson as its director of cyber security services.
Assure APM said the move would further bolster its cyber defence solutions and meet the demands of a growing security market.
Mr Anderson, who recently left the post of director at Bastion Networks, brings with him more than a decade of experience in cyber security.
Mr Anderson also previously worked as security architect with the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Global Network Solutions division. Before that, he served as the principal consultant within Dell SecureWorks’ consultancy.
