Flying biscuit
TUNNOCK’S Caramel Wafers. What better way for a business to display its Scottish credentials than to get staff to pose with a giant basket of the celebrated biscuit?
That appeared to be the thinking of Glasgow-based Loganair, when crew members Tracy Harrison and Mark Holman were pictured with a veritable cornucopia of Uddingston’s finest as they launched the company’s new routes from Carlisle this week.
We trust the bounty was put to good use and given freely to the good folk of Cumbria to sample the famous Scottish export.
Agile office
THE news that law firm Morton Fraser has introduced an agile working policy struck The Bottom Line as an intriguing concept.
Did this mean, we wondered idly, that paralegals will be swapping conference calls for pilates? Long meetings for lunges?
Alas, that is not quite the idea. But we are told that agile working will extend to employee wellbeing, as well as giving staff more choice about where and when they work. Now, where is my yoga mat…
Pie patter
IT was National Pie Week earlier this month, and we were not sure whether to be offended when a press release wafted into our inbox declaring: “I thought this money saving deal from Morrisons in celebration of National Pie Week may be of interest to you.” Was its writer suggesting The Bottom Line is a little bit too keen on the crusty creations, that we have indeed eaten all the pies? Not so. It was merely a note to say Morrisons was taking pie prices back to 1998.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.

We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
