Napier business dean outlines vision
THE NEW dean at Edinburgh Napier University’s Business School has vowed to strengthen links with industry.
Gail Boag takes on the role after seven years with BT which saw her become a regional director and member of the BT Scotland board.
She comes to the University’s Craiglockhart-based business school with experience in a wide range of organisations from small start-ups to global corporations.
Ms Boag said she is aiming to build the school’s academic reputation, strengthen commercial relationships and improve student experience.
“It’s unusual for someone with my business background to take up a role as dean but I like the idea of helping young people achieve their potential,” she said.
“After many years building my skills and experience, higher education is a sector which interests me and where I know I can make a difference.”

CHARTERED surveyor Graham + Sibbald has relocated its Edinburgh office and appointed Tom Templeman as head of building surveying for the East of Scotland.

Tim Bunker, one of the industry’s top rating specialists, joined from Ryden last March, Katherine Monro moved to the Aberdeen office from Knight Frank last month and Graham + Sibbald expects to add more staff in 2018.
Mr Templeman joins from Faithful + Gould having previously spent a decade at DTZ (now Cushman & Wakefield). His remit includes Edinburgh, Dundee, Fife and Aberdeen and will focus on strategic advice across a broad range of property types.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
