Royal appointment for Bute man

Louis MacCallum has been appointed director of commercial at The Prince’s Foundation, which is based at Dumfries House in Ayrshire. 
Mr MacCallum, who hails from Rothesay, began his formal career as trainee manager at The Grosvenor Hotel in Glasgow’s West End before working at a number of venues in Ayrshire, including Troon’s Marine Hotel, Ayr Racecourse, and Enterkine Country House.
The Prince’s Foundation, incorporated earlier this month, is headquartered at Dumfries House, which was saved for the nation in 2007 by The Duke of Rothesay.
In the last six years Mr MacCallum has led the hospitality operation on the estate, taking charge of weddings, dinners, conferences and meetings at the house as well as looking after 200-seater Coach House Café, the Woodlands restaurant, the five-star Dumfries House Lodge bed and breakfast facility, and the visitor centre and shop.

GVA eyes expansion with appointments

REAL estate consultant GVA has continued its plans for growth in Scotland by making a number appointments and promotions across several of its teams.
Mark Currie, who previously managed one of the UK’s largest corporate real estate portfolios for RBS, has been appointed a director in the corporate solutions team and will provide property portfolio advice to the firm’s corporate clients. 
He has more than 20 years’ corporate real estate and fund management experience and previously worked with Cushman & Wakefield, RBS and Aberdeen Asset Management. 
Meanwhile the Scottish business space team is going from strength to strength with three new appointments. 
Michael Facenna has been appointed as an associate in Glasgow, joining from Co-Star Group and will specialise on both landlord and tenant work in the office sector. In Edinburgh, Matthew Moggach will be joining as a senior surveyor in May from Ryden.

Allied makes move into Edinburgh

Allied Surveyors Scotland has appointed Iain Mercer as director of commercial agency in Edinburgh with a remit to establish the firm’s first commercial agency on the east coast.
He joins from IME Property and has more than 20 years’ experience in the commercial property sector.
The office will be based out of the firm’s townhouse on Walker Street.
The move comes shortly after Gary Black was recruited from Graham and Sibbald to head up the Dundee office, while Nigel Forrest was announced as the local director in St Andrews.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me at a time when the commercial property sector is on the up,” commented Mr Mercer.
