3) Monkey Business

4) NOW, Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh, from Saturday

The opening exhibition of a three year programme of contemporary art shows includes a major three-room exhibition by Glasgow-based, Turner Prize-shortlisted artist Nathan Coley.

Central to the exhibition will be The Lamp of Sacrifice by Coley, which will be on show for the first time since it underwent a major restoration by the artist after being damaged in an accident at Glasgow's GOMA. It comprises 286 scaled-down cardboard replicas of every building listed as a place of worship in the 2004 Yellow Pages telephone directory for Edinburgh

Toucans and Lollipops is a new display which tells the story of road safety and how our approach to learning about this deadly serious issue has changed since the 1950s, through one element that hasn’t changed – the Lollipop Person. The display structure has been adapted to include a miniature roadway, complete with a fully functional Toucan traffic light crossing system, which visitors can cross.

An exhibition exploring the lives of five local collectors who travelled to Latin America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They went to seek their fortunes for different reasons – as explorers, doctors, miners, or missionaries – and met cultures and experiences strikingly different from their lives at home.
