STYLE AND SUBSTANCE
The Cavendish London Hotel is located in the heart of St James’s near Piccadilly. This four-star deluxe hotel is in a great position to explore everything central London has to offer, with famous department store Fortnum & Mason right on its doorstep.
SLEEPING MATTERS
The hotel has 230 rooms, including some with stunning views of the city’s skyline. We stayed in a superior twin room, which had the added benefit of Sky television with more than 200 channels.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The Petrichor Restaurant & Bar offers something for everyone, from lunches and dinners to pre-theatre suppers and its renowned Duke & Duchess afternoon teas. It features a modern European menu with traditional British favourites too. The express menu is great if you are in a hurry, from £19 for two courses and £24 for three courses.
WHAT TO DO
London has it all. The hotel is only a short walk to Buckingham Palace. Once we checked in, we went out to explore, and after a short walk through Green Park we were at the Palace.
For those on a short visit, a trip on a tour bus is a great way to see the city, as you can hop on and off, and there are various routes available. We took the yellow route and got off at Marble Arch to fit in a bit of shopping along Oxford Street. Previously known as Tyburn Road thanks to the now-buried Tyburn River beneath it, Oxford Street is of course one of the prime shopping areas in the city, offering everything you need.
After a quick lunch, we continued on the tour to take in the sites which included St Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben, the London Eye and the famous former home of newspapers, Fleet Street.
