THE THINKING DRINKERS
Edinburgh is one of the best bar cities in the world, and since our show is about drink, it stands to reason that our favourite locations are drinking establishments.

Gin is huge right now. We serve Australian Gin Four Pillars in our show and it makes its way into cocktails at Bon Vivant. As well as a quality cocktail bar, it serves simple, tasty European cuisine, so it’s a useful spot for the entire evening.

Meanwhile, the nearby Bramble is a brilliant basement bar. It regularly places on the best bars in the world and no visit to Edinburgh is complete for us without a Martini there.

The Thinking Drinkers: Pub Crawl appear at the Underbelly, Bristo Square until August 26 (except tomorrow).

MATT PRICE
Port O’Leith bar in Constitution Street in what I’ve heard locals refer to as Leithiopia (Leith) is my favourite place to go for a drink in the evening to get away from the festival. It’s a place that can be very lively, especially on a weekend, but it’s such a great place to people-watch. You can almost guarantee you’ll have a story by the end of the night, which is why I love it so much.

Matt Price: Last Night A Weegie Saved My Life is on at Gilded Balloon Teviot, Bristo Square until August 26 (except tomorrow).

JULIETTE BURTON
Without fail, every single day during the Fringe, I visit Frisky Frozen Yoghurt on Forrest Road. My stomach gets so tight with pre-show anxiety that froyo is the only way to get sustenance into my body. Plus, if you put fruit on the top it’s totally healthy. I feel like a kid with ice cream, but grown up.

Frisky keeps me healthy, nourished and happy – exactly what everyone needs be they performer or visitor.

I also visit my old local, Joseph Pearce’s bar on Elm Row – best omelettes in town and pints of Bloody Mary; also vital during the Fringe.

Juliette Burton: Butterfly Effect is on at the Gilded Balloon Teviot until Wednesday.

COLIN CLOUD
My favourite place in Edinburgh during this year’s Fringe is the inside of my own head, on stage, locked in a solid Perspex cell, on stage in the Pleasance Grand, studying 750 people walking into the theatre, every night as I get to analyse everything about them right before I begin to blow their minds. When you see the show (... “And you WILL see the show.” *Jedi voice* ...) it’ll all make perfect sense! But it’s my all-time favourite venue at the Festival and I love finding quirky and unique ways to create the right mood and vibe for the show right from the moment the audience arrive.

Colin Cloud: Psycho(Logical) is on at the Pleasance Courtyard until August 27 (except Tuesday).

REGINALD D HUNTER
After all these years of spending time at the Fringe my favourite place has to be Bristo Square. It’s all happening there, and I have so many great memories of the place. There’s always such a great mix of people. Lots of conversational dreams and ambitions are met there.

Reginald D Hunter: An American Facing The Beast And N***** is on at the Pleasance at EICC until August 26 (except Tuesday).

JULIA SUTHERLAND
The Edinburgh Stand is one of my favourite places to gig. After a great night there we tend to stumble up the stairs to the Nightcap. And they do these drinks called Picklebacks. You do a shot of Bourbon and immediately after you do a shot of pickle juice.

It sounds disgusting, but it totally works. It’s absolutely delicious and they’re frightfully moreish, which is not good. You do tend to have a sore head the next day.

Julia Sutherland: Exposed runs at the Gilded Balloon Teviot, Bristo Square until Monday, August 27 (except Tuesday).

LUCY PORTER
Let me talk you through my Edinburgh day. There’s the Meadowlark yoga centre and that’s where I begin my day with my sun salutation then Mellis’s cheese shop in Stockbridge, which gets a visit every year. I’m always thinking I should be vegan, but Mellis’s will tempt me back with its stinky delights.

The charity shops of Edinburgh are where I spend most of my time furnishing my Edinburgh flat with knick-knacks and pieces of cut glass.

Lucy Porter: Pass It On is on at the Pleasance Courtyard until August 26 (except tomorrow & August 20).

ANDREW MAXWELL
My favourite haunt in Edinburgh used to be Black Bo’s but that’s long gone. To be honest my favourite bar during the Fringe is a temporary bar behind the Cow in George Square. It’s the Underbelly’s artist bar. It’s a temporary bar. It’s like drinking in a garden centre and if you’ve never drunk in a garden centre I can’t tell you how nice it is. That would be my evening place.

My children and my wife love Edinburgh, so they all come with me and twice a week we walk the dog up over Arthur’s Seat and then have a nice afternoon lunch and family time at the Sheep Heid. Just a wonderful establishment.

Andrew Maxwell: Shake A  Leg is at the Assembly George Theatre, George Square until August 26 (except tomorrow).

GEOFF SOBRELLE
In Edinburgh, I always love climbing Arthur’s Seat or walking along the heath overlooking the city – any time of day, I’m sure that’s everyone’s favourite – but it’s such a welcome respite from the madness.

HOME, by Geoff Sobrelle is at King’s Theatre, Edinburgh International Festival 2018 from August 22 to August 26.
