What is it?

A sport-centric drone designed to record your athletic efforts.

Drones are taking over the world everywhere from war zone surveillance to package deliveries. AirDog's Action Sports Drone incorporates autonomous algorithms to track your movement and avoid obstacles.

The technology works via a beacon worn by the user on a wrist strap that sends a signal which is picked up by a sensor on the drone.

This follow-me communication mode allows the drone to video and photograph any target whether you are skiing down a mountain or catching waves at the beach.

Good points?

The tracking functionality works really well and will stay locked onto the signal no matter how quickly you run, cycle or drive a quad bike. Unlike other products with a similar set-up, the AirDog will remain with you even during sudden changes of direction.

The device comes with a gimbal (a stabilisation device) and mounts for both GoPro and Sony action cameras so no additional equipment is needed.

Bad points?

The overall look of the drone is a bit garish with a purple and yellow scheme that is reminiscent of sticky building block toys.

Best for ...

Those looking to capture their sporting endeavours for posterity.

Avoid if ...

You simply want to record your cycle commute to work as this could cause panic at rush hour.

Score: 10/10.
