What is it?

A feature packed Android based smartphone from OnePlus.

Good Points?

OnePlus have nailed the core elements that make a smartphone great with powerful hardware, a quality tried and tested operating system and seamless functionality.

The hardware specifications alone would be enough to make the OnePlus 5 a genuine contender for your next Smartphone upgrade. It boasts Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 mobile chip system which outperforms every competitor's platforms in most processing and graphical benchmarking tests.

This mobile System on a Chip (SOC) also offers improved power consumption, greater performance, updated communications and QuickCharge 4 technology.

OnePlus have leveraged the power of the hardware brilliantly providing a dual rear camera system, Bluetooth 5.0, improved WiFi and 4G connections. Adding 8GB of RAM and 128GB capacity just tips the scale even further in its favour as the more expensive iPhone 6 is only reported to have 1GB of RAM.

A customised version of the Android Nougat OS called OxygenOS gives all the features of the Open source platform but with a unique interface.

Bad points?

The only downside is the lack of a MicroSD slot but this is but a minor quibble.

Best for ...

Those seeking a premium smartphone with the latest technologies without having to pay double for a better known brand name.

Avoid if ...

All you want to do is make a few calls and send the odd text as usage like this on the OnePlus 5 would be like buying a Ferrari and only driving it to go the local shop.

Score: 9/10.
