STYLE AND SUBSTANCE

Tottergill has 10 luxury cottages which can sleep up to eight people. Each property is beautifully styled and has a wood-burning stove and private gardens, while most have a hot tub. The cottages are set on a 46-acre farm and provide an idyllic place for a break. The cottages also have kitchens which sport everything you need to feel right at home.

SLEEPING MATTERS

The bedrooms are spacious with ensuites. For cottages with hot tubs there are robes and slippers, too, for guests.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

One mile away, the Duke of Cumberland pub serves delicious meals in a friendly atmosphere. Brampton, four miles away, has a bit more to offer. The Howard Arms Hotel is pet-friendly and meals are reasonably priced. There are also a few takeaway shops in the town.

DRINK IN THE SIGHTS

The Duke of Cumberland is a short stroll away, though it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Brampton has several pubs.

NICE TOUCH

On arrival we were welcomed with homemade cake and fresh flowers. For walkers, each cottage has laminated guides of the best walks in the area. Guests also have the use of a private pool in Brampton plus use of the local leisure club. And for those who just want to cosy up in front of

the wood burning stove there are board games and books.

ABOUT THE AREA

The cottages are in the village of Castle Carrock, 11 miles from Carlisle and a 30-minute drive from the edge of the Lake District. Hadrian’s Wall is also nearby.
