Grosvenor House Suites by Jumeirah Living, London
STYLE AND SUBSTANCE
A showstopping seven-storey atrium greets you on arrival at Grosvenor House Suites. The lobby is elegantly furnished with armchairs and sofas in front of a blazing fire while flower arrangements complete the look. The building is designed to be the last word in luxury, from the professional yet warm reception staff to the plush carpeting. Grosvenor House Suites aims to give guests the convenience of a luxury serviced apartment with the feel of a private Mayfair residence.
SLEEPING MATTERS
We were upgraded to a one-bedroom deluxe suite. The living space is compact yet manages not to feel cramped. We have two small sofas, a dining table and a kitchenette. The bedroom, however, is extremely generous and features a lavish ensuite divided into three separate areas: bath and shower, vanity space and lavatory. The room has all mod cons – we spent a pleasingly baffling 30 minutes working out how to operate the control panels for lighting, blinds, temperature and doorbell. There were complimentary cakes and a fruit bowl.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The vast atrium space with glass ceiling contains the aptly named Atrium restaurant, designed to feel like an outdoor cafe. It has a full menu of everything from simple pasta to lobster thermidor. We breakfasted like kings – and the attentive service made us feel like royalty. The restaurant is open 24 hours and, we were told, is at its busiest between 2am and 3am. However, we ordered up and dined in our suite – it would have been a sin not to enjoy it.
DRINK IN THE SIGHTS
The Atrium hasn't a liquor licence but you can have drinks brought to your suite. Otherwise, Mayfair spoils you for choice. Try Mr Frogg's on Bruton Lane. Eccentric interiors and fabulous cocktails.
ABOUT THE AREA
At the corner of Mount Street and Park Lane, this is one of London's smartest addresses. You are directly opposite Hyde Park; a minute's walk from Mayfair and its luxury shops; and a leisurely 20-minute stroll from the bustle of Oxford Street and the West End. Mount Street is crammed with boutiques, galleries and unusual stores while Harrods and Selfridges are close by.
Rooms from £499 +vat.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
