OUTLANDER star Sam Heughan has helped raise more than £10,000 for charity after a mystery fan bid thousands for one of his scarfs.
The tartan scarf was placed on Ebay on Thursday, April 14 by cancer charity Cahonas Scotland, with a starting price of 99p.
After just two hours the price tag had shot up to £5000, and after 10 days on the auction site it finally netted £10,801.
Interest in the scarf, worn by the actor at this year's New York Tartan Day Parade, meant a bidding frenzy ensued the minute it went online.
The winning bid was placed anonymously with only 20 seconds to go before the close of the auction, topping by £100 the £10,701 bid placed before them.
It was part of an auction for the charity which encourages celebrities from the world of TV, sport and music to donate items of signed clothing.
Called 'loosen up!', the campaign is aimed at raising funds for causes relating to testicular, breast and prostate cancer in men, and also featured an 8" cut out of Heughan's Outlander character and a signed DVD.
Other auctioned items include a signed tie from singer Rod Stewart, which raised £440, while Lewis Hamilton, Bryan Cranston, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Sarah Jessica Parker also donated.
