Defence Secretary expected to announce closure of Fort George
MPs this afternoon are expected to be told that Fort George in the Highlands is to close but the Kinloss Barracks in Moray will stay open.
Sir Michael Fallon, the defence secretary, will announce the changes in a Commons statement.
While Fort George, the 18th century artillery base near Ardersier, is due to be closed, this will not happen until 2032. It is currently the home of the Black Watch.
Kinloss, a former RAF station, is now an Army base.
