OUR movie reviews, which usually appear on a Thursday, are now going to be incorporated into an expanded Arts magazine which will come with tomorrow’s Herald.
Staff film reviewer Alison Rowat will continue to give her take on the week’s big releases and there will also be a round-up of the movies being shown locally.
Tomorrow’s 20-page Arts magazine will also include our quality books section edited by Rosemary Goring and an extensive guide to Scotland’s art galleries.
We will also be expanding our music coverage in the new Arts magazine, with more features on everything from Handel to Hendrix.
The Herald Magazine with Saturday’s paper will also be growing in size with improved coverage of food, drink and travel and excellent long-read features and interviews.
Our seven-day TV listings will be included in the 56-page Saturday magazine along with expanded TV coverage including Alison Rowat’s review of the best shows on the box and our pick of the top movies on TV.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
