THE Sunday Herald's unflinching dedication to outstanding journalism has been recognised with a clutch of six nominations for the forthcoming Scottish Press Awards.

Our front page from July that "Scotland is European", on the threat of the UK being taken out of the EU against the nation's will, has been nominated in the Front Page of the Year category.

Foreign editor David Pratt has been nominated in two categories, Reporter of the Year and Feature Writer of the Year. Iain Macwhirter is in the running for Columnist of the Year. Staff are also nominated in the Political Journalist of the Year category.

Neil Mackay, editor of the Sunday Herald, said: "I wish all staff the best of luck - just being nominated is already recognition that they are the best in the business."

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in the Radisson Blu hotel in Glasgow on Thursday May 11.
