A CARER who left a vulnerable man in faeces-soaked clothing and cleaned him in a dining room has been struck off.

John Stevenson failed to properly help the man, who had had an incontinence issues, while working for a Barmulloch care home.

He started helping the resident in the communal dining room at Broomfield Court, in front of other residents and staff instead of taking him to a private area.

The care assistant didn't change the man's clothes, disinfect the place where the accident had happened or tell residents to keep away from the area.

This happened on October 9, 2015 and he was suspended by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) pending investigation.

Around a month later, Mr Steven son applied for another job as a rehabilitation support worker with the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust, but lied on his application form.

He told the firm that he had left his previous position at Broomfield Court due to family problems and secured the new post.

The social services council found he had been dishonest while he worked for the rehabilitation trust at Graham Anderson House hospital, between December 2015 and May 30, 2016.

Mr Stevenson also worked as a relief carer for Key Community Supports, based in Glasgow, and again didn't tell the firm he was suspended and under investigation.

The shamed carer has now been removed from the register of social workers completely following a hearing with the SSSC.

The panel ruled Mr Stevenson had "breached the trust and confidence" of the resident, and placed other service users at risk of harm.

He also went against his employer's infection control procedures, and was was "persistently dishonest" when he moved to other jobs.
