One of Scotland’s most 
ideally-located, food, drink and music festivals is back to cater for all ages and tastes. With 
award-winning chefs and musicians, the line-up also includes a traditional raft race, aerial trapeze performances, bread-making workshops and baking competitions, circus skills workshop, an omelette challenge,
disco yoga and much more. For the first year ever, the event will host an all-star female chef line-up for tomorrow’s coveted Mhor Feast. In another first, the festival will have a mobile cinema housed in a comfortable yurt where guests can enjoy a selection of independent films.

2 BIG FISH LITTLE FISH: FAMILY RAVE
Drygate Brewery, Glasgow, Sunday
Returning to Glasgow for the second time this year, the 
post-rave generation of parents are encouraged to be responsibly irresponsible in this rave experience. On hand will be a licensed bar, club lighting, a craft and play area, giant colouring-in mural, babies-only safe space and a much-hyped parachute dance. Glowsticks, transfer tattoos and a bubble machine will help to complete the experience. The theme this time is “Around the World”, with Mr Egg, one of the founding fathers of UK acid house music, as special 
guest.

3 HIDDEN DOOR FESTIVAL
Leith Theatre, Edinburgh, from tomorrow
The non-profit and 100 per cent volunteer-run multi-arts festival returns for a fourth year to bring the derelict Leith Theatre back to life after almost three decades of lying empty. With ten days of music, theatre, visual art, film and spoken word, Hidden Door aims to provide the spark to get the art deco gem back up and running as a major Edinburgh arts hub with the help of the best creative 
talent from Scotland and beyond. Music highlights include two nights of live music: Anna Meredith and alt-pop duo Bdy Prts tomorrow and Scottish indie legends Idlewild on Saturday. The festival ends on June 4 and will be free to explore every day until 6pm, with tickets on sale for evening events for which prices vary.

4 MÀNRAN
The Lemon Tree, Aberdeen, tomorrow
Established in 2010, the 
Scottish-Gaelic band has performed at several folk festivals around the world and was invited to do a one-off concert for the London 2012 Olympics. Having completed full tours of Denmark, Australia and England, the six-piece is touring north of the Border promoting their latest album An Dà Là (The Two Days). The record is a bilingual attempt to deal with today’s ever-changing world, including a call for compassion and humanity directed at President Trump in his mother’s native language of Gaelic.

5 STRATHYRE MUSIC FESTIVAL

Now in its fifth year, the weekend has become a popular and friendly event attracting a great mix of established and 
up-and-coming music stars. Set in the beautiful natural amphitheatre of Strathyre, the event is run by volunteers with the help of local businesses. The family-, bicycle- and 
walker-friendly weekend will feature wide and varied music, ranging from traditional folk and blues to a touch of jazz and rock and roll. This year’s headliners include Dundee group Benedictus, Glasgow five-piece TX4 and the Riverside Ceilidh Band.

6 BOWIE EXPERIENCE

A tribute to the late, great and innovative singer, the Bowie Experience was established in 1997. Formed by a group of musicians attending music college, they reinvented as the Bowie Experience shortly after and continue to perform his biggest hits all over the UK. With the star himself having requested a copy of the group’s unplugged CD, it’s clear to see why the act is one of the leading Bowie tribute bands on the circuit today.

7 EDINBURGH CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL

As the craft beer movement continues to gather pace, this event is a celebration of passion, creativity and quality in brewing. Bringing together a specially curated and varied gathering of some of the world’s top breweries in a vast warehouse, visitors will be given the freedom to discover all the best beers under one roof. Beyond that, The Pitt, one of the capital’s best street food markets, will create a one-off menu. There will also be live music and DJs from the city’s best talent.

Following on from his 2013 Back in the Game tour, which became the biggest-selling stand-up DVD and tour of the year, one of the country’s best-loved comedians is back. Described as “an East End boy done good,” Micky has risen to the top of the stand-up world in the past year. With his 
show-stealing performance at the Royal Variety, the 
Whitechapel-born comic will be sure to bring the Scottish audience more of the witty and sharp observations the nation has come to expect.

9 LARGS FOOD FESTIVAL
Largs Green on the Promenade, Saturday and Sunday
Showcasing the very best of Scottish food and drink, visitors can take part in cookery demonstrations, seminars, live music and children’s entertainment in this bank holiday event for all the family. Held in a large marquee, the public will have the chance to sample artisan and organic products from Ayrshire and beyond. With May being Scotland’s “whisky month”, there will be an array of specialist whisky suppliers and tastings, along with designer gins, cocktails and beers.

10 ORKNEY FOLK FESTIVAL
Various venues, Orkney, today until Sunday
The 35th annual festival kicks off today in Stromness, with events reaching out to other villages, parishes and islands. Visiting acts include chart-topper Eddi Reader (pictured), leading Irish musicians Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill and Flook, the Anglo-Irish band. There is 
plenty of local talent lined 
up too. With 36 ticketed events scheduled plus pub sessions, organisers say ticket sales have already passed the 6,000 mark, which they only did for the first time two years ago. Out of the 36 gigs, 24 have sold out. There are still plenty of tickets available for fantastic 
acts.
