Celtic has paid tribute to a lifelong fan who passed away peacefully after celebrating her 100th birthday on the day the club became Invincibles.

Julia Paterson marked her milestone 100th birthday at Celtic Park with a trip to watch her favourite team play Hearts in the final league game of the season.

She passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon.

She fulfilled a lifetime ambition by walking on to the pitch in Paradise at half-time with Mikael Lustig and met former striker Bobby Lennox, 73.

Speaking to the Celtic View at the time, Julia said: “I feel that today is the highest point in my life. I’ve always loved Celtic, and to have reached 100-years-old and to be able to come and see them, especially the way they’re playing just now, is wonderful.”

Julia was said to be delighted to see her team lift the league trophy and become Invincibles.
