KILMARNOCK have completed the signing of former Partick Thistle defender Stephen O'Donnell.

The right-back went through the youth systems at Aberdeen and Celtic before making 121 appearances for the Jags and then moving on to Luton Town.

After two seasons with the English League Two side, O'Donnell has returned to Scottish football to sign a three-year contract at Rugby Park.

“I’m very excited for the start of the season, especially with a big game to start with," he said.

"I’ll give one hundred per cent for the club and will be looking to get forward at every opportunity. I want to play every week and play good, entertaining football.”

O'Donnell was a free agent after leaving Luton at the end of last season following a campaign in which he made 43 appearances, scoring three goals.

Killie boss Lee McCulloch believes his capture is a signal of intent for the club after the defender followed fellow new arrivals Alan Power, Daniel Higgins and Calum Waters into the club.

McCulloch said: “I’m totally delighted to have Stephen on board. I see this as a real coup for the Club, he’s an athletic player that wants to get better every day.

"He has shown that he can play very well in this league and has gained invaluable experience down in England and will fit in well with the Club’s playing style.”
