A GAMES studio launched by Abertay University graduates has launched a crowdfunding initiative to market a game which uses both traditional tabletop cards and a mobile app.

Wrench Games is looking for funding to promote Blind Wizard Brawl, a game the company describes variously as a hybrid tabletop game and a “phygital” game, combining physical and digital elements.

The concept was initially created by Computer Arts graduate JL Brady for an Abertay honours project investigating hybridised games, before being developed by the team during their final year.

The game requires players to use the cards and app to create spells and bluff their way to victory.

To bring the game to market the team is using Kickstarter, a crowdfunding platform which helps to get creative projects off the ground.

Wrench has reached 77 per cent of its funding goal with five days remaining, and for every target reached the company plans to release new characters and features of the game.
