CELTIC have been busy securing the futures of some key players this week as Callum McGregor today joined Scott Brown and Jozo Simunovic in signing a new deal at Parkhead.

Hoops fans will have been happy to see their skipper put pen to paper on a new contract, as he had less than a year to run on his previous deal.

With players able to sign pre-contract agreements in January, some of the Ladbrokes Premiership’s most prized assets will soon be available for nothing unless they pen new deals.

Here, we’ve put together a team of players with contracts set to expire next summer – and it looks like it could do a job in the top-flight.Glasgow Times:

Goalkeeper: Scott Bain (Dundee)

It has been a season to forget for the 25-year-old keeper so far, with the Dee having picked up just a solitary league point in five games.

Despite Bain conceding 12 times already, he remains one of the league’s highest-rated young stoppers and was already linked with a move to Hearts during the summer.

Right centre-back: Paul Paton (St Johnstone)

A Northern Ireland international with more than 100 Premiership appearances to his name, the former Partick Thistle and Dundee United defender helped St Johnstone secure European qualification last season.

Paton has picked up where he left off, playing every minute of the league campaign for Saints so far as they remain unbeaten.

Centre-back: Michael Devlin (Hamilton)

With rumours swirling of interest from Aberdeen, the Accies captain signed up for another campaign at New Douglas Park this summer.

The 23-year-old is currently recovering from injury and yet to feature this term, but he will not be lacking suitors next summer – particularly if Martin Canning’s side are relegated.

Left centre-back: Danny Wilson (Rangers)

After making 27 appearances for the Ibrox club last season, Wilson has lost his place this term following the arrivals of Portuguese pair Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso. Glasgow Times:

Although the 25-year-old is likely to find playing time harder to come by over the coming months, he brings a wealth of experience from his time with the Gers and Hearts, as well as having five Scotland caps to his name.

Right midfielder: Ali Crawford (Hamilton)

Given his impressive record with the Accies – Crawford has scored 32 goals and provided 58 assists over the last five seasons – it's almost incredible that the 26-year-old hasn’t been lured away from New Douglas Park already.

With a year left running on his deal, another impressive Premiership campaign would surely see the Lanark-born midfielder make a move.

Central midfielder: Kenny McLean (Aberdeen)

After a summer of being linked with Rangers, the Dons midfielder is still at Pittodrie – but for how much longer? The 25-year-old has improved markedly since his 2015 switch to the north east and his performances at the heart of Derek McInnes’ earned him a Scotland debut last March.

McLean has played every minute of Aberdeen’s league campaign so far this season after making an impressive 53 appearances last term as they finished second in the league, League Cup and Scottish Cup.Glasgow Times:

Central midfielder: Liam Henderson (Celtic)

The 21-year-old faces stiff competition for a spot in Brendan Rodgers' midfield this season and could be set for an exit when his deal is up next summer.

Henderson impressed while on loan at Hibernian in 2015/16, winning the Scottish Cup and providing six goals and 16 assists, but he made only 13 appearances last season for the Hoops and is yet to feature this term.

Central midfielder: Niko Kranjcar (Rangers)

The talented Croatian may be in the twilight years of his career, but his technical ability and international experience make him stand out in the Scottish top-flight.

Long-term injury hampered his debut campaign at Ibrox, ruling him out for the season last October, but he has returned to try and prove he still has something to offer Pedro Caixinha at the age of 33.

Left midfielder: Jamie Walker (Hearts)

Walker’s name dominated the back pages for much of the summer as he looked set for a move to Rangers before the clubs failed to reach an agreement over a fee.

But with the winger’s deal up next summer, he could yet make the move west from Gorgie. The 24-year-old was a star performer for the Jambos last season, scoring 15 goals.Glasgow Times:

Striker: Louis Moult (Motherwell)

Another name constantly linked with a move away during the summer, the Fir Park faithful will be delighted to have kept their star striker for another season.

The 25-year-old joined the Steelmen from Wrexham in 2015 and has gone on to net 15 league goals in each of the last two seasons. Moult has started this season as he left off, notching three times in his opening five games.

Striker: Kenny Miller (Rangers)

Is Miller finally on the wane? The former Scotland striker’s longevity has been outstanding, with the 37-year-old netting a crucial haul of 11 league goals for the Gers last season.

But with newer, younger models arriving at Ibrox this summer, Miller could find regular game time harder to come by. Although he turns 38 in December, you wouldn’t put it past the veteran to sign up for a fresh challenge when his new one-year deal runs out next summer.

Substitutes: Jamie MacDonald (Kilmarnock), Marcus Fraser (Ross County), Steven Anderson (St Johnstone), Abdul Osman (Partick Thistle), Steven Lawless (Partick Thistle), Kris Boyd (Kilmarnock), Alex Schalk (Ross County)
