JAMES Forrest is well on course to better his highest ever goal tally after netting a second half double for Celtic in the 4-0 win over Ross County at Parkhead on Saturday, writes Matthew Lindsay.

But the winger feels having Moussa Dembele, the French striker who was the Glasgow club’s top scorer in the 2017/18 campaign with 32 goals to his name, back will make them a far more dangerous side.

The 26-year-old believes Dembele’s available will ensure they pose a serious threat up front no matter who is playing - including in the Ladbrokes Premiership game against Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday and the Champions League group match with Anderlecht in Belgium on Wednesday week.

“Even though it was Moussa’s first start for a couple of months he was outstanding,” said Forrest. “He showed he was top quality and it was great to have him back.

“Having him back creates competition and that can only be good. You saw that last season. W hen boys dropped out whoever stepped in scored goals and kept the consistency up.

“We are buzzing for him to be back and for him to score as well. You saw how many goals he contributed in big games last season. You forget how young he still is.

“After seeing him return against Ross County you know he is going to be a big player for us again this season. “

Forrest, who scored nine goals for Celtic in the 2011/12 campaign, netted his fourth and fifth goals of the season on Saturday.

“It’s been a good start for me,” he said. “Long may it continue,” he said. “We have games every few days. I want to keep going.”
