MICHAEL Gardyne is confident Ross County can move up the Ladbrokes Premiership table despite winning just one of their six league games so far this season and being two points off bottom spot.
Garydne was unable to help the Highlanders score or get a point against Celtic at Parkhead on Saturday, but the striker stressed that his team mates were still upbeat about the remainder of the season, writes Matthew Lindsay.
“I’m don’t think our form is a concern,” he said. “But we know in house that it’s not good enough. We have got some big games coming up where we feel we can get points on the board so that is what we will be looking to do.
“The second half on Saturday was a little bit better and we can take a few positives from that no doubt.
“Craig Gordon pulled off two brilliant saves at 2-0. If it had gone to 2-1 you never know what might have happened. Maybe on another day it could have been different.
Gardyne, whose side has now played Aberdeen, Celtic and Rangers, believes it will be difficult for any side to challenge the Parkhead club.
“It is obviously going to be hard,” he said. “They have been unreal for the past year. Brendan Rodgers has come in, done his thing and they have all bought into it. I was speaking to Stuart Armstrong after the game. He is loving it and talks very highly of him and the training they do. They are producing.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
