A RARE first edition copy of Ian Fleming's 007 novel Live and Let Die is expected to fetch up to £6,000 at auction in Edinburgh.

The book, published by Jonathan Cape in 1954, was the second James Bond tale written by Fleming.

The story was written at Fleming's Goldeneye estate in Jamaica and released in an initial run of 7500 copies.

It was later adapted as the eighth official Bond film in 1973, starring Roger Moore as the MI6 agent for the first time.

The first edition, first impression will be auctioned at Lyon & Turnbull's sale of rare books in Edinburgh on October 11.
