Trains running between Glasgow Central and Lanark will face signifiant disruption until next week.
A fault with the signalling system will see the service disrupted until October 11.
A replacement bus service will be provided for passengers travelling between Wishaw to Glasgow.
A bus will depart for Wishaw to Shieldmuir at 10 minutes past the hour and 40 minutes past the hour.
Customers at Lanark and Carluke wishing to travel to Wishaw should alight from the train at Shieldmuir and board the train service back to Wishaw which departs Shieldmuir at 21 and 51 minutes past the hour.
A statement from ScotRail reads: "Following significant damage to signalling equipment in the Shieldmuir area, we require to replace some equipment."
"Unfortunately this will take us until next week and when we have an estimate for work to be completed and our services to run as booked we will update you."
