POLICE have urged parents to warn their children about strangers following an incident in East Kilbride.

The force received a report that a man tried to entice a young girl into his car in the town on October 5.

After investigating, no further action will be taken but parents have been urged to make their children aware of strangers.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Police Scotland received a report of suspicious behaviour of a male driver speaking to a young girl trying to entice her into a car on October 5 in the East Kilbride area. The incident has been fully investigated and there is irrefutable evidence that no crime took place."

He added: "However, please make sure your children and young people know the risks regarding speaking to strangers and keeping safe, and report any suspicious activity to police."
