A drunk-driver who crashed his car so badly one of his wheels feel off was caught by crafty police when they followed grooves in the road made by his alloys after he drove off.

Rhys Connell, 20, crashed after he had been drinking in July this year.

Despite one of his wheels falling off he drove away, crashing in to another car, before again driving off.

And officers investigating the crash were able to follow grooves his alloys had left in thw road from the scene of the crash all the way to his home.

He admitted his guilt at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court this week and sentence was deferred.
