RYAN HARDIE has thanked Graeme Murty for giving him his chance to impress after moving up from the Rangers Under-20 squad.

Murty has taken charge of three matches – wins over Hearts and Partick Thistle and the defeat to Hamilton – since being handed the Light Blues reins last month.

Striker Hardie has become a key part of the Gers second string as they have embarked on their new games programme at youth level this season.

But the 20-year-old is pleased he has had the chance to continue under Murty’s guidance in recent weeks following the sacking of Pedro Caixinha.

Hardie told SportTimes: “I have worked with him and had a few games for the 20s at the start of the season.

“It is good that he has shown the faith in me to give me a chance in the last couple of weeks. “I am really happy with that. It has been really good to work with him.

“He brings fresh ideas and the way he wants to play is very attacking. He is very detailed in his sessions and I enjoy working under him.

“He has given a few of the young boys a chance so it shows that what is being done at youth level is working and that if you are good enough then you are old enough.

“I don’t think age is important to Murts. He works on developing young players and getting them ready for that step.

“He concentrates on his day-to-day work and he is very much about what happens in the moment.”
