A lifeboat was called to rescue a woman and a young child who were cut off by the tide in Fife.

Crews from Anstruther Lifeboat rescued the woman, a two-year-old boy and two dogs, who faced a rising tide in the town on Wednesday.

Crews were called at about 2.45pm after the woman realised she could not get back to the shore with the child and dogs.

A spokesman for the Anstruther RNLI said: "Normally the area is absolutely fine, but they became totally cut off and the woman had no option but to call.

"We managed to get everyone on to the boat and took them to the shore."
