TOM Rogic has ended speculation over his future by signing a new five-year contract at Celtic.

The 25-year-old Australian midfielder had been linked with moves to West Ham and Southampton in the English Premier League but has now committed to the SPFL Premiership champions until 2023. He had been about to enter the final year of his contract at Celtic Park and rejected a new deal in February.

Speaking to the official Celtic website, Rogic said: “I feel great to have signed a new contract. I’m very proud and honoured to be able to commit my future to the club.

“The support here is very special and sometimes it’s hard to describe. To feel so loved and wanted by the fans is all a player can really ask for.

“It’s my job and the players’ job to repay that. Now that my future’s sorted I can focus completely on playing football and giving everything I have for the club, as I have done for the past five years.”

Rogic has been in impressive form for Brendan Rodgers' side this season scoring eight goals and registering eight assists in 37 games thus far. Rogic scored the winning goal in last year's Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen to complete the treble and is eager for Celtic to repeat the feat ahead of this year's showpiece against Motherwell.

He said: “When you win a single trophy it's something very special so to have won as many as I have here is another reason why I love it here and why I feel very privileged to represent the club.

“The Scottish Cup final goal last season was a pretty special moment that I think will be hard to top. I’ve played in a lot of big games here at this club and to have contributed a small part to that makes me very proud.

“I’ll keep working as hard as I can to hopefully create more in the future.”

After Saturday's match, Rogic will have a short break before joining up with Bert van Marwijk's Australia squad for the World Cup finals in Russia.
