A mountain rescue team searching for a missing climber on Ben Nevis has recovered a body.

Marcin Bialas had been missing since January 21 after falling through a cornice near the summit of the UK's highest peak.

Two other members of his climbing party were rescued on the day of the accident.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team carried out numerous searches, but were hampered by poor weather conditions and deep snow.

A statement from Police Scotland said a body was recovered from snow in Observatory Gully on Saturday.

"Formal identification is still to take place, but the family of Marcin Bialas have been informed," police said.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
