A Scottish adventurer has become the fastest woman to cycle around the world.

Jenny Graham, from Inverness, circumnavigated the globe by bike in 125 days.

The 38-year-old arrived at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin on Thursday, knocking almost three weeks off the previous women's record of 144 days set by Italy's Paola Gianotti in 2014.

The total distance travelled by bike and rider, including flights, had to exceed 24,900 miles – the circumference of the world at the equator – to qualify for the record.

Ms Graham's route took her through 15 countries, heading east through Asida, Russia, Mongolia and China before she flew to Perth, Australia.

She cycled from New Zealand to Alaska before travelling across North America to Nova Scotia before a final flight took her back to Europe, where she completed the final leg of her trip.

Ms Graham, a children's service worker, discovered adventuring with her now-teenage son.

In 2015 she raced the Highland Trail 550 for the first time.

She has also completed the Cairngorm Loop, the Arizona Trail Race and a four-day winter LEJOG.
