A rescue is underway in the Highlands to free passengers left hurt in a horror bus smash.

Firefighters, police and a fleet of ambulances are at the scene on the B9161 at Littlemill Bridge south-east of Munlochy. 

There are reports of multiple casualties.

A fire service spokeswoman said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 5.44pm on Friday, January 11 to assist emergency service partners with a bus that had left the road in Inverness.

“Operations Control mobilised three fire engines and a Heavy Rescue Unit to the B9161 Munlochy where firefighters safely removed one casualty who was trapped from the bus.

“The casualty was passed into the care of The Scottish Ambulance Service for treatment.

“Five other casualties were also assisted from the bus.

“Crews remain in attendance.”
