Two Scottish artists have taken home top gongs at the 39th annual Brit Awards.

After 16 nominations in ten years, Calvin Harris walked away with two awards - for song One Kiss with Dua Lipa and British producer of the year.

The 35-year-old, who also performed at the show for the first time, said: "I've been coming here for a few years and I've never got the opportunity to say anything on this stage before.

"I want to thank the people at home, I want to thank these people here, I want to thank anyone that has bought a tune, streamed a tune, come to a show, listened to a song by accident on the radio and gone, 'What's this?"

Glasgow-born singer Tom Walker was named British Breakthrough, also achieving his first ever Brit award after ending the year with hit single Leave A Light On.

Before the awards took place, he said he will get "right on it" if he picked up a prize at the ceremony, and went on to dedicate his win to his gran.

Rising Scots star Lewis Capaldi missed out on being named Critics' Choice, with the gong going to singer Sam Fender.

But although the star did not pick up any awards, he certainly enjoyed attending his first ceremony.

The Brit Awards were seen by 4.1 million viewers - down from last year.

The music awards show peaked with 4.8 million and won its slot, ITV said.

But it was down on the 4.5 million viewers and peak of 5.5 million who tuned into the 2018 ceremony
