Though White Scottish pupils still tend to dominate our schools (555, 476 were on the rolls in 2016, making up 81% of the population) the ethnic profile of the playground has changed over the past few years. Its most dramatic shift has been in a growth in the number of pupils identifying as White Polish, a group which has increased by 450% in the past five years. The following are the ethnic groups that have seen the greatest percentage increase in the five year period since 2011.
White Polish – up 450% to 12,585
African – up 72% to 6,555
White Other – up 65% to 53,874
Asian Indian – up 50% to 5,378
