Police had said a man who has missing for four days was last seen going out on a boat.

Extensive searches have been under way for Joachim Brolly, 59, who has not been seen since around 3pm on Thursday March 9.

The last sighting of him was at the south end of Loch Awe in Argyll and Bute where he got into a boat at Torran Bay Hostel.

He was reported missing on Friday.

Police appealed for information about his whereabouts.

Inspector Julie McLeish said: "An extensive search involving police, fire and rescue service and coastguard has been ongoing since Mr Brolly was reported missing on Friday March 10.

"We have received information that he went out on a boat around 3pm on Thursday March 9, however there have been no sightings of him since.

"Anyone who has seen him since Thursday March 9 is asked to contact police at Lochgilphead immediately via 101."

Mr Brolly is described as white, 5ft 6ins, of medium build, clean-shaven with short grey hair.

When last seen, he was wearing navy trousers, a navy fleece and a navy jacket.
