One of Glasgow’s most iconic buildings is in the running to win top place for having the UK’s best window with a view.

The Lighthouse in Mitchell Lane, just off Buchanan Street, already won Scotland’s best window with a view earlier this year before gaining attention on a wider scale.

Scotland’s national centre for design and architecture will now go up against finalists from ten other areas across the country in a public vote.

The winner will take the crown from the current top venue, Liverpool Museum, which took the title in 2016.

James Lee, director of marketing at MyGlazing.com - which is running the competition - congratulated the city centre arts space, and said: “It truly is a great feat given the standard of entries we received this year.

“It’s going to be an exciting couple of months, seeing which regional winner secures the title of the UK’s Best Window with a View.

“We wish The Lighthouse the best of luck in the national vote and urge people in Scotland to support them.”

The national winner will be decided via an online vote at MyGlazing.com/WWAV.

Voting closes on September 30, and every person who votes will be entered into a prize draw to win a Fuji Instax camera.

The national winner will be announced in October.

The ten other regional winners competing in the national heat against The Lighthouse are:

  • Midlands: Shugborough Hall
  • East of England: Holkham Hall
  • London: Tower Bridge
  • North East: Crook Hall
  • North West: Cloud 23
  • South East: Emirates Spinnaker
  • South West: Shipwrights Arms
