I NOTE with interest your article about Diageo’s investment in Scotland ("Diageo plans massive investment in whisky", Herald Business, April 17). It’s nice of the company to plough some of the massive profits they make back into Scotland. But wait, there is no mention of the hundreds of jobs this will bring and no apology to the people of Kilmarnock for changing history and locating the Johnnie Walker centre in Edinburgh. All this is to coincide with the 200th anniversary at that.

Surely the true home for this must be Kilmarnock, after all it was only the home of Johnnie Walker's for 192 years. It says in your article that heritage and place are two of the characteristics that Diageo reckons its consumers are looking for so surely it should be in Kilmarnock; it would provide some much-needed employment to that town.
