I FEEL obliged to challenge the assertion in one of your headlines today – "Welcome to Bank Street, Lochgelly ... Scotland's biggest town with no bank"(The Herald, April 23).

Westhill in Aberdeenshire has a population of 12,000 and we have no bank. There is a Post Office which can accept deposits on behalf of some banks, and we do get occasional visits from a mobile bank, but since the Royal Bank of Scotland closed its branch here, we have no bank.
