I WONDER how many readers would agree with me, that car drivers of 80years of age and over should obtain a certificate from their doctor as to their fitness to drive, which is mandatory in a number of other countries? At the present time it appears that the DVLA is relying on the honesty of the driver and the goodwill and common sense of the doctors. However, the DVLA insists on a doctor's certificate if you are 70 and over if you wish a licence to drive a mini-bus. There is very little difference between a large car and a mini-bus except perhaps more fatalities in the event of an accident.

I would imagine that different age groups would have different views on this matter.
