YOUR report from Lewis ("First Mosque in the Hebrides opens in time for Ramadan" , The Herald May 11) was very welcome news. The opening of the mosque on the island shows the tolerance, understanding and fairness of the council and the people of the Hebrides towards the very small Muslim community living among them.
As a Muslim I would like to thank very sincerely the council and all the people of Hebrides for this very noble gesture. God bless them all.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
