THE so-called landmark deal in 2015 in Paris when nearly 200 countries agreed to ambitious targets to limit fossil-fuel pollution by all nations is crumbling.

The developing nations only agreed to sign that agreement on promises by rich countries, led by the United States and the European Union, that they would ramp up climate-related aid to developing countries to $100 billion a year by 2020.

The fund had only reached $62bn by 2014 and America has withdrawn from the Paris Accord so no dollars coming from them.

Developing nations are now demanding more clarity on when the promised package of $100bn in aid is coming their way.

It was always about money, not "saving the planet".
