THE high level of pollution in Glasgow's Hope Street is mentioned yet again following the report from Dundee University linking pollution to hospital admissions ("Air pollution spikes linked to jump in admissions to hospitals", The Herald, July 11).

Travelling along Glasgow's Waterloo Street recently the bus I was on was stopped four times as traffic lights changed to red one after the other. This affected three lanes of traffic.

It is amazing to think that with all the 21st century technology that is available traffic lights are still not sequenced city wide to avoid such situations and the considerable increase in pollution it causes.
