AS one who has not visited other major cities in the UK other than Edinburgh, I assumed that the lack of litter in Glasgow was a UK norm (Letters, August 9). However, a neighbour who recently visited the city where she was brought up (Birmingham) was appalled on seeing the general rubbish and cigarette ends on the streets.

Well done Glasgow City Council, often berated on many fronts by many people, including myself.
