THE caption for an illustration accompanying your report on Glasgow’s printing history ("Making news: Public put on the trail of Glasgow's printing history", The Herald, September 17) refers to The Bulletin as one of three Glasgow evening papers in 1960.

The Bulletin, which ceased publication in 1960, was a morning, not an evening, paper.

The three evening papers in Glasgow in the 1950s were the Times, News (ceased 1957) and Citizen (ceased 1974).

Older readers will remember the cries of the newspaper sellers, making themselves heard above the evening bustle of people and traffic, calling out the titles of the three papers with a characteristic emphasis on the final syllable of "Citizen".
