THE clue in the Word Spiral in your puzzle page this morning, December 17 (the regular occupation of my breakfast time) was "a country", and the answer was "Holland". May I point out that Holland is not a country, but two of the nine provinces (North Holland and South Holland) in the Netherlands. To use the name "Holland" to mean the Netherlands is like using "England" to mean the United Kingdom: not the kind of mistake we expect to find in a Scottish newspaper.

IN Saturday’s little crossword on the back page, the clues to 1, 2 & 3 down are wrong because the answer to 1 across – disunion, split (6) – is Brexit.
