WHAT a sad day forall of us. What a ride we have had; what a ride. Andy Murray has given everything to all of us who are Scottish, British of another nationality: the fight, the skill, the integrity, the artistry, the humility, the torture, the tears, the genius and the humour.
He gave sports fans and others reason to believe and have heaving hearts, tears of joy and national pride.
He transfixed us so that we looked forward to 3am starts as we tuned in on TV with childish anticipation to watch him play in far-flung places.
What a void. He will never be forgotten.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
