I REFER to the Scottish Rugby Union squad announced by Gregor Townsend, our national coach for the forthcoming Six Nations tournament ("Veteran Ford put on Six Nations standby", Herald Sport, January 17).

It should be pointed out that of this 39-man squad there are 18 players who are not Scottish. This is a scandalous scenario, but sadly is not uncommon with the other British rugby squads.

Thankfully, however, the French Rugby Union has now stated that only players born in France will represent their country and the sooner this spreads to all the other six nations the better it will be for true followers of the sport.

This imbalance of course applies also to the Scottish football team and especially our national cricket team. I should also add that Cameron Norrie (tennis) is a true New Zealander.
