IN response to Yvonne Sim and others (Letters, March 21 & 22), I’ve not had time to clock a cuckoo.

John S Milligan,

86 Irvine Road, Kilmarnock.

I HAVEN'T heard a cuckoo in our neck of the woods but heard a woodpecker drilling for a mate this morning.

At this time of year it is usual to hear the cushat pigeons calling loudly and if your hearing is impaired or there is extraneous noise it can resemble the cuckoo call.

However, I would defer to William Shakespeare who advised that all this talk of cuckoos may be "Much a doo about nothing…"

Archie Burleigh,

Meigle Cottage, Skelmorlie.
