THERE does not seem to have been any progress in the slow-down of closures of businesses on our high streets (“Is our dying high street worth trying to save?”, The Herald, April 15). The weekly visit to the town for a bit of shopping seems to be dying, as more and more people shop online. Would it help if VAT were added to items bought online, but not when purchased in a store? Surely this would bring shoppers back to our two centres.

Mrs J Duncan,

Rosedale Drive, Glasgow.
